Lode Ergometery Manager 10

In this guide we will run you through how to connect up your Lode ergometer to the latest version of Lode Ergometry Manager (LEM). To view the guide on how to connect the Pedal Force Measurement module on your Excalibur or Brachumera PFM ergometer, please click here *hyperlink to PFM page*.

1. Pre- connection checklist

Before beginning the LEM connection, ensure you have the following:

  • A PC with the latest model of LEM 10 installed (including Lode LEM licence)
  • The correct cables (e.g., Power Supply for ergometer, Lode Network Module RJ45 Cable or RS232 cable & USB Serial Convertor, depending on which model of ergometer you have)

2. Ergometer – PC connection

  • Before opening LEM on your PC, make sure the ergometer is connected properly. Newer model ergometers will require the Lode Network Module RJ45 cable, while older model ergometers will utilise a RS232 cable and USB Serial Convertor. Both models will require the USB A end to connect into the PC.
  • Turn on ergometer, and select Main Menu → Terminal → Network Module
  • Turn on the PC and open the LEM software
  • Allow LEM to scan and connect the ergometer. If LEM autoscan doesn’t find the ergometer, open the ‘Device’ tab, and rescan for ergometers.

3. Further troubleshooting

If there you are still experiencing issues connecting the ergometer to the LEM software, please attempt the following:

Ensure your Licences are correct

  • Open LEM and select the Gear Icon on the top bar
  • Select the Licences tab
  • Ensure that the licence contains the correct ergometer and modules (e.g. Wingate and Excel Export if they are purchased)
  • If the licence is incorrect, click Import and upload the correct licence PDF.

Ensure LEM is up to date

  • Open LEM and select the Gear Icon
  • Select the Updates Tab
  • Ensure ‘Automatically download application updates’ is selected
  • Close and restart the application
  • The latest version of LEM should now be downloaded

Remove and reconnect the Excalibur within LEM

  • Turn on the ergometer, and make sure it is connected to the PC correctly.
  • Open LEM on the PC, and open the device list.
  • Select and remove the ergometer, using the red cross
  • Restart LEM, and allow autoscan to search for the connected ergometer
  • Once the ergometer is found, select it in the device list
